#96 The Faults of the Bride

courtesy: Wordpress Blog Random_Michelle

Your dress
is a landscape of ivory white
resewn, fallen
in between
dirty cliffs
 filthy rags
that not even
the strongest whitening agent could clean.
False righteousness revealed;
in the decorated bodice
easily disintegrating
just like a museum’s
aged parchment
words
that flow from your
undeserving tongue
have long left
the searching jaded
its luster decaying
behind dying hues
proven
unfaithful
by the poisoned views
of its body...
far away from the rugged cross
hypocritically evolved
.Self-superiority.
becoming lost
to the message it ought
to live...
no longer a part
of who waits
at the altars edge
compelled to fulfill
a covenant
based on a love
that you distorted
marginalizing many
who turn away...
for if you represent
a light that is set on a hill
they’d prefer to embrace the
dark valleys
and furthermore
dwell there still.
Since
the misrepresentation
of its main story
stands thickened
just like your veil haughtily filled
with complex additions
of your finite claims
that mocks the altar on
which your life should have been laid
and the price
your groom handsomely paid
to buy among many gifts,
a priceless
gown
.Spotless.
.Renewed.
Bordered with lace
diamonds and rubies
that you foolishly
decided not to use.
You robed the older model
that had once made you suffer,
embellished all its bad areas
not realizing that new cloth
just made its rent wider
just like the road where
you now tread
decorated with the
petals of your bouquet
slowly changing
understandably fading
yet
you stand there confused
shocked at their wilting.
The psaltery and harp
that guided your entry
have stopped suddenly
mid-chorus
Empty pews
Force you to shift focus
to who waits on at the end of the aisle
Meaningful gaze
sorely disappointed,
turning away
leaves you dressed
in the sum of your inventions
disgraced by the bride
He no longer recognizes.

#49 Senseless

courtesy Roman W.

Closed eyes

and closed mouths

have we also closed thoughts?

To the repercussions of our propagated hate

that forms a cycle that never breaks

these hard, calculating stone shells of ours

except the one that holds

the deepest parts of

hell that sets aflame

our bodies

and everyone that holds

our hands

around this earth,

even if we never desired

them to be held...

We are this world

and though we isolate

ourselves more

than the oceans and

seas separating our regions

and continents,

when we burn

we also burn the ones

we refuse to acknowledge

as our sisters and brothers.

Deaf ears,

selectively trained to hear

only the themes

that we've self-explained

among the small circle

of our decaying brains

that can only understand

as far as the skulls

in which they are contained,

and thus

oblivious to the strain

of what everyone

plucking the eyes

out each other's faces

has left us to manage...

This solemn refrain

that has no melody

but just annotations

of unheard screams

and erratic timing

that dances on

skin numb from

agonizing terror

that falls

down like the

stacked dominoes

we really are...

Human beings killing

the earth, themselves

and each other.

Blind leading the blind.

Love cast asunder,

leaving us all

senseless

on a planet

where hate

is determined to prosper.
