Umbrellas were made to keep the rain out.
But they only did so much.
Because when compared to
the downpour of drops
in your mind...
Truth be told,
physical rain
didn’t matter that much.
The shelter it provided
was uncanny,
Guarding yet keeping you cold
walking in this open space
under torrential flows...
that served to slow the pace
of feet
eyes surrounded
by white-
shadowings and mascara
loosely applied
now running
diminishing
the clarity of sight
increasing
the bristle of chill winds
against
smears of red
across the mouth
life’s fist bruising the lips
knowledge of intimate
pain
smiles turned to frowns
standing alone
near this bridge.
Funny...
how concrete and steel
could feel so unsteady
even through a light traffic flow;
Concrete and steel
made for a steady bridge
bearing movements
of this
.Unsteadiness.
somehow unaware
that happiness
is still around
that in the struggle
hope still existed
though it seemed difficult
being found;
in cruel jest
patterns circumvent
into dark lines
and burnt shadings
that make your raiment
flow down
rumpled from the reddened
nosedive that you still are
recuperating in...
Jester’s trick
concealed behind the
face everyone sees...
oblivious to whom this umbrella guards beneath.
