My inspiration left...

Left me with burnt out flecks

Flecks that exuded retreat

Retreating 

victim of war in the battle to find heat

Heat that was drained from cold faces

Faces claiming bodies

Bodies rearranged into people

Disgraces

Projecting outward personas

Mismatched to reality’s musty aroma

Unequipped to change their 

Vile ways

Though aging

Lips curled, 

wrinkling

preaching that 

taking flight

means you’re diseased

just

because 

They are still

Wingless doves trapped 

In unfortunate cages.

How many things do we lose?

For the sake of being a fool

How much love do we misuse?

For the sake of holding on to pride

How many situations have we not solved?

For the sake of holding on to our pride

How many issues in ourselves have we not resolved?

For the sake of being angry

How many people do we turn away?

For the sake of being angry

How many people do we cause dismay?

For the sake of not forgiving

How much happiness have we lost?

For the sake of not forgiving

How many new memories have we lost?

For the sake of not listening

How much have we not understood?

For the sake of not listening

How much bad could we have made good?

For the sake of surviving

How many dreams have we slaughtered?

For the sake of being you...

How much more destruction will you yet require?

#93 Shaved Hills

Reminds me of

alopecia 

stress provoked

perhaps

but not really...

and I sigh 

for

bulldozed trees

Hide and seek

Memories

Of childhood

now cloaked

In dusty heat

overturned roots

Necessary sacrifices

to build

Another house

On another shaved hill.

They tell me

I’ll do the same thing 

someday.
